Women Who Make A Difference

Women Who Make a Difference --- 2019 Warren Zonta Awards

The Zonta Club of Warren “Women Who Make a Difference” 2019 awards were presented to three women for their leadership in their profession and / or volunteer work in Warren County.

At our January meeting we honored three Women Who Make A Difference. Each year the Zonta Club of Warren honors selected women who make a difference in the community through volunteer work.
“She simply and quietly goes about her work, yet she inspires, empowers and advances the status of women.” We are proud to honor Sally Beckerink, Linda Fehrenbach, and Jennifer Madigan

Sally has volunteered tirelessly since retiring from the Warren County School District. She is a proctor at the Crary Art Gallery, an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, a Sharing Place server and occasional food preparer, Voter registration for High School students. She is devoted to the Warren Library Association; serves on the Trustee Board, the Community Relations Committee, Midwinter Fundraiser Planning Committee, serves on Warren Library Association Friends Board, is Coordinator of book donations and fundraising activities and is their Treasurer.

Linda Fehrenbach  was recognized as a long time Warren County Fair Board member as well as several other volunteer activities. She has served as Chairperson for many committees for the fair including the Home and Garden buildings, WCF museum, and the Premium Book.  She also works in the office, in multiple food booths, and is in charge of the PSACF Baking Contests.  In addition to her volunteerism at the fair, she is very active in the Warren County Red Cross. She responds to fires and natural disasters to provide food and drink to the first responders and affected families.

Jennifer Madigan is currently an Early Childhood Teacher at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center.  In addition to teaching, Jen is the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center Day Care Events & Programs Coordinator, as well as the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Director for Warren County. Jen was a volunteer firefighter for 3 years in Butler County and completed the EMT class.  She has served on Relay For Life Leadership committee for 4 years over 2 counties. Without Jen’s passion, and love for children and reading, the Dolly Parton Imagination of Warren County would not have come to fruition.  She has been instrumental in the start-up and growth of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.  She has worked tirelessly to maintain the growing list of children receiving free books in the mail.  In addition, she has worked to organize and coordinate fund raisers.

Each woman was given a yellow rose – a symbol of International Zonta, a certificate recognizing their accomplishments, and a contribution to their chosen charity in their honor.
